Leadership Assessment Tests

A leader’s credibility is shaped by the individual's ability to examine their own beliefs, cultivate positive and effective communication, respond productively to stress, and contribute to effective team functioning.

Although we can develop leadership seminars for your team, personal and customized assistance in leadership development cannot occur in most seminar settings. Personalized leadership assessments can assist executives to be self-correcting, to autonomously identify when they are performing well and when they are not, and to independently make corrections.

At Jensen Consulting we use a four-step process for leadership assessments.
  1. Historical interview. This comprehensive interview focuses on education, work history, background, self-perceptions, competencies and goals. It clarifies the patterns of success which have caused the individual to be effective to date, as well as potential areas that may impact their short-term and longer-term effectiveness.

  2. Administration of standardized instruments. These instruments are selected based on the goals of the individual and the assessment but typically involve personality assessments, leadership style inventories, assessments of emotional intelligence and/or cognitive functioning assessments. For some clients, we also utilize 360 degree feedback or assessment center services such as in-box exercises and structured role plays.

  3. Feedback session. The executive being assessed is provided comprehensive information regarding his or her cognitive processing style, approach to conflict, use of power, interpersonal strengths, personality characteristics and suggestions for professional development. The feedback is presented in an in-depth, face-to-face session.

  4. Action plan. Each executive creates a set of goals and action plans based on the assessment. These plans are specific and measurable actions to take to increase the impact of strengths and reduce the impact of weaknesses. If the assessment is a precursor to coaching, this action plan is used to guide coaching activities.
